Abstrak
This research aims to evaluate the impact of the Project Based Learning (PJBL) approach on improving the speaking skills (maharah kalam) of 10th-grade students at MAN 1 Bukittinggi. The study is motivated by observations that students have low proficiency in speaking Arabic, mainly due to the ineffectiveness of current conventional teaching methods. A true experimental design with a post-test only control group was employed in this study. The sample consisted of two randomly selected classes: one experimental class implementing the PJBL model and one control class using traditional teaching methods. A speaking skills test administered post-intervention served as the research instrument. The data were analyzed using a t-test to test the hypothesis. The findings revealed that the PJBL model significantly enhanced the speaking abilities of 10th-grade students at MAN 1 Bukittinggi, as indicated by a t-value of 3.875, which exceeds the t-table value at the 5% significance level (2.042). Therefore, it can be concluded that the Project Based Learning model effectively improves students' speaking skills.
