ABSTRACT Mega Tri Utami : 2317041, “The Effect of Using Overview, Key Ideas, Read, Recall, Reflect, Review (OK4R) Method on Reading Comprehension of the Ninth Grade Students at MTsN 4 Agam”. A Thesis, UIN Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Islam Bukittinggi, 2023. One of the most important of language skill in learning English is reading. The purpose of reading is comprehend. But the most of students had problems on reading comprehension. The students difficult to understand the meaning of the text of each paragraph and students were less motivation in study English. Therefore, this study aimed to develop effective methods to improve students' reading comprehension in narrative text. OK4R method that could be used to improve students' reading comprehension of the ninth grade students at MTsN 4 Agam. The population of this research was ninth grade students at MTsN 4 Agam. The total as the sample of this research was 52 students. This research was class IX.1(26 students) as experimental class and class IX.2 (26 students) as control class. A t-test formula was used to analyze of data collection procedures. Based on the calculation results of pretest score and post test score of experimental class, it was found that t-obtained was 11.27 and t-table for degree of freedom (df) =25 with level of significant ( ) 0.05/2 (0, 025) = 2.059. It was found that t-obtained was higher than the t-table. It means that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. It could be concluded that OK4R method had significant effect had significant effect comprehension.
