Abstrak
ABSTRACT Serli Ratna Amelia, 2316.058. The Effect of Using the Power of Two Strategy Toward Students’ Reading Comprehension at the ninth Grade of MtsS Darul Makmur Sungai Cubadak. A thesis, State Islamic University of Syech M.Djamil Djambek Bukittingi 2022. This research was done because most of the student of MtsS Darul Makmur students still encounter problems in mastering English in reading comprehension. The students read the texts but they could not get the information’s from the text, So the students were difficult to understand because they did not have enough background knowledge about the text. This research used experimental research. The researcher used a quasi experimental design by using the pre-test and post-test control group design. The population of this research was Third grade of MtsS Darul Makmur Sungai Cubadak. The sample was IX.2 which was trated as experimental class and taught by using The Power Of Two Strategy and IX.1 was taught as control class and taught by using conventional strategy. To determine the sample, the researcher used total sampling technique, because of the population in this research less than hundred students. From the result and accounting the pre-test and post-test scores of the experiment class, it was found that t-obtained (3,75) was higher than t-table (1.6787) with degree of freedom (df) = 46 and (α) = 0,05. So, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted which means that there was significant effect The Power of Two Strategy to the students reading comprehension. The calculation of post-test both classes : was experimental class and control class, it was obtained that was (2.24) which was higher than the t-table control group. To analyze the data, the researcher used the normality by using Liliefors test and the homogeneity test by using F test and to test the Hypothesis the researcher used t-test formula and consulted the result into t-table with level of significant α = 0.05. with degree of freedom 24+24 -2=46 and (α) = 0.025 So, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted which means that there is significant difference between using The Power Of Two Strategy and conventional strategy. Then t-obtained both of classes in third hypothesis is (2.24). which was higher than t-table (1.6787) with (α) = 0,05. So, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted which means that The Power of Two Strategy is better than conventional strategy is better than conventional strategy in teaching reading comprehension. So, it can be concluded that the entire hypothesis is accepted. It is proved that using The Power of Two Strategy as a reading strategy can help the students in improving their reading comprehension.
