Abstrak
Aldila Fani Prasetia, 2315.130. “The Correlation between the Students’ Grammar Mastery and Students’ Reading Comprehension” at the 9th Grade of MTsS PP MIS Cubadak Pasaman in Academic Year 2021-2022. A Thesis of Department of English Education at the Faculty of Educational Sciences of State Islamic Institute Bukittinggi, 2022. The research was do to problems found in the field; the problems were about did not understand in grammar mastery and unknown word or vocabulary. For grammar mastery problem it can be seen from grammar score of some student who are under the KKM. And for unknow word or vocabulary it can be seen when students read a text, they got difficulty because of unknown word. Additionally, this research aimed to know whether there was a significant correlation between the students’ grammar mastery and students’ reading comprehension at ninethgrade of MTsS PP MIS Cubadak. The design of this research was quantitative research method and the technique was correlation research. The population was 117 students and sample of this research was 39 students from IX2 class which used purposive sampling technique. The instruments to get the data were grammar mastery and reading comprehension test. The instruments had been validated by some experts. The data was analyzed by using product moment. The finding of this research showed that there was significant correlation between students’ grammar mastery and students’ reading comprehension. It was proved by the r-measured 0.856 which is higher than r-table 0.316 (0.856> 0.316). There was positive correlation and had high correlation between 0.81 – 0.99 which mean it had very high correlation. This means that grammar mastery can improve reading comprehension.
