Efforts to enrich students' learning experiences, strengthen cultural identity, and foster stronger relations between education and local communities have increasingly centered on integrating local wisdom into Islamic education. This research aims to assess the values of local wisdom, their relevance within Islamic educational contexts, their role in fostering peace and social harmony, and their integration into the Islamic education curriculum. The research methodology employs a qualitative approach involving literature reviews and case studies. Community based disaster management (CBDM) empowers communities to be actively engaged and be pro-active in disaster management. The involvement of the community is one of the keys to success in disaster management, especially considering the values embraced by the community itself such as religious values and local wisdom. This study aimed to create and implement a CBDM model based on religious and local wisdom of Minangkabau people in West Sumatra, Indonesia. By using Research and Development (R&D) design with a generic adaptive model of Creswell from Gall and Borg, the researchers created, implemented and evaluated a CBDM model based on religion and local wisdom of some of the nagari (villages) in West Sumatra that are prone to natural hazards. The findings of the research at the model formulation stage have been conducted, elaborated and developed incorporating the local values such as rituals and ceremonies, together with customary laws that govern behaviour, and strengthen social cohesion in order to be more applicative, practical and effective in disaster management. Furthermore, quantitative tests were conducted so that this model had the value of practicality and effectiveness to be applied to other communities in any disaster area.

To explore the tension between tradition and religion in local land management practices, as well as the problems caused by climate change and globalization, using three case studies from Indonesia. Anthropological, ecological, and related literature about three communities was reviewed. The communities chosen were the Mentawai tribe, the Mount Merapi people, and the Balinese community in Indonesia. The review focused on themes concerning these communities’ local beliefs and practices relating to ecology and understanding the role of human actors in the environment. As a guiding theoretical framework, Post-colonial and critical-theoretical theories were employed. The three case studies showed that traditional approaches to ecological land management are coming into conflict with government and global capitalist practices. The literature review found a sense of antagonism between external forces and local communities. This study proposes that local wisdom and indigenous knowledge are important resources in effectively and collaboratively managing contemporary environmental issues. This is important because such wisdom is often marginalized by modern scientific paradigms employed by centralized government and international agencies
