ABSTRACT Desi Khairani, 2316.036. The Effect of Mnemonic Technique Toward Students’ Vocabulary Mastery at 8th Grade of MTs Muhammadiyan Lawang Tigo Balai. This study aims to find out the effect of using mnemonic techniques on the vocabulary mastery of grade 8 students. This research was conducted at MTs Muhammadiyah Lawang Tigo Balai. There are several problems found by the author, including; first, students find it difficult to remember the meaning of the words. Second, students find it difficult to spell words and they don't know how to pronounce them. Third, students only remember the word while in class, but after that sometimes they remember what they have learned. This research uses quantitative methods. Researchers used experimental type research. The participants of this study were 8th grade students with 64 students divided into two classes, namely 8.1 and 8.2, where class 8.1 was the experimental class and class 8.2 was the control class. To analyze the data that has been collected, the researcher used normality by using the Lilifors test and used the homogeneity test by using the F test. Meanwhile, to test the hypothesis, the researcher used the t test with a Sig value. 0.05. Data processing was carried out using SPSS 25. From the research results and the results of the initial and final test calculations from the experimental class and the control class, then the results of the first hypothesis are obtained there is any significant effect of using Mnemonic technique toward vocabulary mastery. It was found that the significant of 2-tailed was 0.0000.05. with the level significant 0.05. It means the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Second Hypothesis, There is any significant difference of students’ vocabulary mastery between the students who are taught by using Mnemonic technique and students who are not taught by using Mnemonic technique. It can be seen from the results of the data analysis, it was found that the value of sig.(2-tailed) was 0.0000.05. it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is refused, so there was a significant difference of students’ vocabulary mastery between the students who are taught by using Mnemonic technique and students who are not taught by Mnemonic technique. Third hypothesis, Students who are taught by Mnemonic technique are better in vocabulary mastery than students who are not taught by using Mnemonic technique. It can be seen from the result of statistical analysis. It was found that the significant of 2-tailed was 0.0000.05 with the level significant 0.05. It means the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted.
