ABSTRACT Dilla Septiani, 2315.072. Improving Students Reading Comprehension Of Procedure Text By Using Demonstration Method At Grade X IPA 1 SMA N 1 Canduang. Thesis, State Islamic Institute Bukittinggi (IAIN) The research was created to improve students’ reading comprehension of procedure text by using the method that researcher use later. The method the researcher will use is the demonstration method. The purpose of this study is to find out how the demonstration method is to find out the extent to which students’ understanding of reading comprehension procedures using the demonstration method. The research was a collaborative classroom action research (CAR). Where later researcher and teacher work together to carried out this class action research. In this study not only teacher who act as instructors. This class action research is divided into 2 cycles that refer to the class action research procedures is planning, implementation, observation and reflection. In cycle I the researcher act as a teacher while the researcher act as an observer. The research data were collected through observation checklist and tests given to students. The test given to students in the form of a post-test at the end of learning. The subject of the study was the students of grade X IPA 1 SMAN 1 Canduang. The total number of students in the class is 21 students. The results of analysis shows that the demonstration method can improved students learning result of students learning results reading comprehension in procedure text. It was shown from the results of observation checklist and students learning test in 2 cycle. The results of observations that have been obtained in this study both the observation checklist that have been obtained in this study both the observation checklist of teachers and students in cycle I and cycle II an increase in the learning process activities. The students learning test results that have been obtained in this study an increase. On the initial ability of students (pre-test) the results obtained by students the average score of the class is 74,47. The results obtained by students in the cycle I (post-test) the average score of the class is 75,95. In the second cycle the results obtained by students the average score of the class 77,14. From the results obtained by students in cycle I to cycle II an increase in student learning results and has reached the completeness criteria. The completeness criteria (KKM) is 75. To prove the truth of a significant improvement in student learning result in cycle I and cycle II using t-test. The results obtained in the t-test that is the count is 4,74. The t-table in db 20 a = 0,05 is 1,72. So it can be concluded that the use of demonstration method can improve students’ learning result. Skripsi, Institut Agama Islam Negeri Bukittinggi (IAIN) Penelitian ini diciptakan untuk meningkatkan seberapa pemahaman membaca siswa dalam procedure text dengan menggunakan metode yang akan peneliti gunakan nantinya. Metode yang akan penmeliti gunakan adalah metode demonstrasi. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pemahaman siswa dalam pemahaman membaca teks procedure dengan menggunakan metode demonstrasi dan untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa dengan menggunakan metode demonstrasi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas jenis kolaboratif. Dimana nantinya antara peneliti dengan guru bekerjasama dengan guru untuk melaksanakan penelitian tindakan kelas ini. Didalam penelitian ini bukan hanya guru yang bertindak sebagai pengajar tapi peneliti juga bertindak sebagai pengajar. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini terdiri atas 2 siklus yang mengacu kepada prosedur penelitian tindakan kelas yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Di siklus I peneliti yang bertindak sebagai pengajar sedangkan guru bertindak sebagai observasi dibelakang. Di siklus II guru yang bertindak sebagai pengajar sedangkan peneliti sebagai observasi. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui lembar observasi dan test yang diberikan kepada siswa. Test yang diberikan kepada siswa yaitu berupa post-test diakhir pembelajaran. Subject dari penelitian ini adalah siswa/ siswi kelas X IPA 1 SMAN 1 Canduang. Jumlah keseluruhan siswa didalam kelas yaitu 22 siswa. Hasil dari penelitian ini menujukkan bahwa metode demonstrasi dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dalam pemahaman membaca didalam teks procedure. Hal ini ditunjukkan dari hasil observasi dan test belajar siswa. Hasil observasi yang telah didapatkan pada lembar observasi guru dan siswa siklus I ke siklus II adanya peningkatan aktifitas terhadap proses kegiatan pembelajaran. Hasil test belajar siswa yang telah didapatkan pada penelitian ini adanya peningkatan. Pada kemampuan awal siswa (pre-test) hasil yang didapatkan oleh siswa nilai rata-rata kelas yaitu 75,95. Pada siklus II hasil yang diperoleh siswa nilai rata-rata kelas yaitu 77,14. Dari hasil yang diperoleh siswa pada siklus I ke siklus II adanya peningkatan terhadap hasil belajar siswa dan telah mencapai nilai kkm yaitu 75 Untuk membuktikan kebenaran terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar siswa pada siklus I ke siklus II menggunakan t-test . hasil yang diperoleh pada t-test yaitu t-hitung adalah 4,74 . T-table adalah 1,72 pada db 20 a = 0,05 is 1,72. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan metode demonstrasi dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.
