Abstrak
This research aims to describe the improvement in students' pronunciation through reading aloud. The subjects of this research were 32 grade 8 junior high school students. The research method used in this research is classroom action research (CAR) which consists of 2 cycles. The instruments used were oral tests and observations. In analyzing data, this research uses quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitatively, data is obtained from student test scores. The results obtained in the first test cycle showed an average student score of 60.09, with a success percentage of only 28.125% or 9 out of 32 students who passed the completenes criteria (KKM). Meanwhile in the second cycle the percentage of success in improving students' pronunciation was 81.25% with an average score of 83.28, where there were 26 students who passed the completenes criteria (KKM). In observations, researcher and observer found that using reading aloud could improve students' pronunciation abilities, seen from intelligibility, accuracy and fluency. Students' interest and enthusiasm also increased, this can be seen from their excitement in learning pronunciation and students' activeness in following every direction from the teacher in every learning process, this was strengthened by observations that showed the classroom situation is also more conducive and students are more interested and enthusiastic during the teaching and learning process. In other words, it can be concluded that reading aloud can improve students' pronunciation abilities
