Abstrak
ABSTRACT Yenita Hastuti, 2315025, Students’ Translation on Narrtaive Text from English into Indonesian at English Education study Program in IAIN Bukittinggi” a thesis, State Islamic Institute Bukittinggi, 2020. The research was due to several problems found that in the field: the students assumed narrative text is a text difficul to translate. It was because students translate the text literally, also the students were lack of vocabularuies in translating the text. Because of this phenomenon, the researcher conducted the research in order to know about students’ translation on narrative text from English text into Indonesia text by the fifth semester students of English Education Study Program in IAIN Bukittinggi. The finding of the research was to find out of students’ problem and the causes in translating narrative text from English into Indonesia. The research used descriptive quantitative approach as the research method. The population was from 55 students at fifth semester students of English Education Study Program in IAIN Bukittinggi and the researcher used Total Sampling as the technique sampling, while technique of data collection was the translation test to be translated into Indonesia and questionnaire. The finding related to students’ problems in translating narrative text revealed that on ambiguity there was 35% of the students found difficulty, on structural was 33,4% found difficulty and on lexical differences between language was 36% found difficulty. Overall the students who had problems in translating narrative text from English into Indonesia was 34% and it showed that the poor category. It means that as a problem in translating. Related to the causes it was found that in non linguisic factors was 52% and it showed that in the most category. Thus, this mean is one of the causes in translating. Related in linguistic factors it was found that 55% and it means the students also in most category. In conclusion, the causes of students' difficulties in translating narrative from English into Indonesia text mostly was in linguistic factors. Key words : Translation, Narrative Text
