Abstrak
ABSTRACT Ainun Mardiah, 2315.129, The Correlation between Learner Autonomy toward English Learner Achievement of Eleventh Grade at SMAN 1 Tanjung Raya Academic Year 2019/2020. This research was conducted since there were many problems to reach good English learner achievement at senior high school students. For example, the students tended to be passive in learning English, the student lack of innovation to improved their ability in English learning, the students lack of responsibility to increased their ability in English learning. This research aimed to know whether there is correlation between learner autonomy and English learner achievement. The research was a correlation research. The totals of population are 140 students, the sample was 20% of total population which consisted of 6 students per class and the researcher used random sampling in determining the sample. The data was achieved from questionnaire about learner autonomy and documentation about English learner achievement specifically mid-term score of the students. To analyze the data collected the researcher used Spearman’s Coefficient of Rank Correlation (ρ) and the hypothesis, the researcher used t-test formula and consulted the result into t-table with α= 0.05. The finding of the research revealed that the coefficient of correlation between learner autonomy and English learner achievement (ρ) was 0,599 . It means, there is correlation between learner autonomy and English learner achievement. Besides, based on the hypothesis testing, the t-score was 0,67 whereas t-table on α= 0.05 was 0,388. It means, the t-score was smaller than the t-table. Thus, Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected which stated there is correlation between learner autonomy and English learner achievement.
