THE STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION ON TEACHER BASIC TEACHING SKILLS IN ENGLISH CLASSROOM AT SMKN 1 TANJUNG RAYA
ABSTRACT Bestiara, 2315095, “The Students’ Perception on Teacher Basic Teaching Skills in English Classroom at SMK N 1 Tanjung Raya” a thesis, State Islamic Institute of Bukittinggi, 2020 This research was conducted because researcher found differences in students perception on teacher basic teaching skill in the English classroom. Based on preliminary research, the research was due to several problems found in the field; The students were differences in perception on teacher explaining skill and guide the students have a group discussion. Therefore, this research wasdone at SMKN 1 Tanjung Raya to find out the students perception on the teacher basic teaching skill. Teacher basic teaching skill is ability that teacher should have. The design of this research was a survey research and quantitative approach as the method of the research. The sample was collected from 96 students at SMK N 1 Tanjung which used simple random sampling as the technique sampling of the research. Additionally, the analyzing of the data was done by identifying the respondent’s responses, analyzing the data and making a conclusion. The result showed that the mean score of students’ perception on teacher basic teaching skill in explaining skill has a good perception which means score is 76.43%.Furthermore, teacher ability to guide discussion skill perception was good which mean score 73,68%.
