Annisa Aulia Rahmi, 2313.112, The Correlation Between Listening Strategy Used and Listening Comprehension Skill at the Second Grade Students in SMA N 1 Banuhampu Academic Year 2017/2018. This research was done because the researcher found some problem in listening. It was found in SMA N 1 Banuhampu that students had applied strategies in listening comprehension skill. Although the students had applied many strategies in listening, but not all of them had a good listening comprehension skill. Some students were still low in comprehending the spoken text while listening. Thus, the research was done in SMA N 1 Banuhampu to know whether listening strategies gave significant correlation toward students’ listening comprehension skill. This research aimed to discover the correlation between listening strategy used and students listening comprehension skill. This research was a correlational research. The total of population was 247 students, the sample was 36 students which consist of some students per class and cluster random sampling was used in order to determine the sample. The data was achieved through questionnaire for listening strategy used and test for listening comprehension skill. To analyze the data, the researcher used Pearson’s Coefficient of Correlation formula (rxy) because the data gotten was interval data. To test the Hypothesis, the researcher used rxy and consulted into r-table with =0.05. The analysis of the data, it was found that the coefficient of correlation gotten was 0.711 in the range 0.70-0.90 or was in high correlation. It means there was positive correlation between listening strategy used and students’ listening comprehension skill. In addition, based on hypothesis testing, the rxy score gotten was 0.711 while r-table on df = 36 and =0.05 was 0.325. It means, that the rxy was higher than the r-table. In other words, the Ha showed that there was significant correlation between listening strategy used and listening comprehension skill was accepted. In conclusion, there was a high correlation between listening strategy used and listening comprehension skill, if the students use listening strategy in listening it will increase their listening comprehension skill.
