Abstrak
The Tradition of Mananti Bako Before the Funeral Procession in Nagari Sarilamak, Harau District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. This tradition is based on the community's customs in the event of death. However, in the practice of Mananti Bako Before the Funeral Procession, there is a potential for conflict between customary customs and Islamic law due to delays in the implementation of the funeral. This study uses a field research method with a qualitative approach. Data were obtained through observation, interviews with ninik mamak, religious scholars, traditional leaders, bako families, and the community of Nagari Sarilamak, and supported by documentation. Furthermore, the data were analyzed descriptively using the maslahah theory as one of the foundations in understanding the objectives of Islamic law (maqasid syari'ah). The results of the study show that the tradition of Mananti Bako before the funeral procession in Nagari Sarilamak is different from Islamic law because in Islamic law, the funeral procession is recommended to be carried out immediately, while the reality that occurs in the community of Nagari Sarilamak when they want to carry out the funeral is a delay because they have to wait for the bako first before carrying it out. However, this tradition is a form of respect for the bako family, as well as a means of strengthening kinship ties and preserving traditional values still alive in the Nagari Sarilamak community. From a maslahah perspective, this tradition is beneficial because it can create social harmony and strengthen family ties. However, its implementation must not conflict with the principles of Islamic law, particularly the recommendation to expedite funeral arrangements. Therefore, the Mananti Bako tradition can be viewed as maslahah mursalah as long as it does not cause harm, does not hinder the right of the body to be prepared promptly, and remains in line with the objectives of sharia.
