Abstrak

Thesis "School Resistance Strategy to Popular Culture at MAN 2 Padang Panjang" Islamic Religious Education Study Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training UIN Sjech M.Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi 2025 M / 1446 H. This research is motivated by problems that arise from popular culture, such as music, films, fashion, and media, which play an important role in shaping the social and cultural identity of today's society. There are negative impacts, seen in several students at MAN 2 Padang Panjang, Female students show excessive appearances by using thick lipstick, wearing short clothes and rolling up their sleeves, and having long nails with nail polish and not wearing socks. On the other hand, some male students also show striking styles, such as wearing clothes that are taken out, having long hair, wearing necklaces, and t-shirts. This research is qualitative with a case study approach, and data collection uses observation, interview, and documentation methods. Then the analysis technique through data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The informants in this study were the Principal, Student Affairs Representative, Guidance and Counseling Teacher and 9 students at MAN 2 Padang Panjang. This study aims to identify and describe the resistance strategies implemented by the school in responding to the negative influence of popular culture on the character of class XI students at MAN 2 Padang Panjang. The results of the study conducted at MAN 2 Padang Panjang found that the school implemented five main strategies in responding to and reducing the influence of popular culture among students. These strategies include: supervision of the use of mobile phones and social media with a cellphone deposit system every morning; integration of local and national cultural values into daily learning and habituation activities; organizing interesting cultural activities such as tambua and randai exercises; enforcing polite and religious dress codes through a persuasive approach; and instilling moral and religious values by teachers consistently both inside and outside the classroom. These five strategies show that schools do not only focus on prohibitions, but also shape student awareness through a fun educational and cultural approach.
