Abstrak
Wita Purnama Sari, 2319022. “Improving Students’ Reading Comprehension by Using NHT Technique at the 12th Grade Students of MAN 3 Solok”. A Thesis, English Education Study Program. State Islamic University of Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi, 2023. This research was done to improve students’ reading comprehension by using NHT technique. Moreover, the aim of this research was to find out whether the using of NHT technique was able in improved students’ learning result in reading comprehension at the twelfth grade students of MAN 3 Solok. This research was an individual classroom action research (CAR). In this research, the researcher as a teacher and as a researcher also. This classroom action research divided into two cycles that refered to the classroom action research procedures were planning, implementation of action and, reflection. The research data were collected through questionnaire and reading comprehension test. The test given to students in form of a post-test at the end of learning at each cycle. The subject of this research was the twelfth grade of religion students of MAN 3 Solok. The total of number of students in the class was 28 students. The result of analysis showed that the NHT technique could improve students’ learning in reading comprehension. It was shown from the result of questionnaire and students’ learning test in two cycles. The result of questionniare showed that there were improvement toward students’ activity in learning after treatmented by NHT technique. In cycle I, it was known that the average value of class XII IPK was 68,64 and in cycle II the average value of students in class XII IPK had increased became 76,64. The result of test showed that there were improvement of students’ reading comprehension by using NHT technique. The result of test showed that in pre test the average value of class XII IPK was 35,86. In post –test at cycle I the average value of class XII IPK in reading comprehension was 58,88. In post-test at cycle II average value of class XII IPK was 80,89. Based on the students’ result in cycle I and cycle II could be conclude that the criteria minimum value was reached. The minimum criteria value (KKM) was 75. Furthermore, it could be conclude that the used of NHT technique could improve students’ result in reading comprehension.
