Abstrak
ABSTRACT Mutiara Dewi Cahya (2316115) “Students’ Motivation in Learning Reading Comprehension at the Tenth Grade of SMAN 1 Candung 2020/2021”, A Thesis, State Islamic Institute of Bukittinggi, 2021. This research background was trigerred by problems of tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Candung. The purposes of this study was to describe the students motivation that is more dominant in learning reading comprehension at the tenth grade of SMAN 1 Candung. First, the limitations of learning media make students less desire to learn reading comprehension. Second, the atmosphere of the home environment is not conducive so that there is a lack of motivation to learn at home. Third, students have less desire to read textbooks specially for reading comprehension lessons. The purposes of this study were to describe the students’ motivation that is most dominant in learning reading comprehension at the tenth grade of SMAN 1 Candung. This research used descriptive quantitative with the tenth grade students as the research population. There were 51 students taken as the research sample selected through cluster random sampling technique. The data were collected through questionnaire. The questionnaire is used to obtain data about students’ motivation in learning reading comprehension. The type of the questionnaire is closed questionnaire which consist of 20 items. The results of the study showed that the highest aspect that was choosen was integrative motivation (83%), and the lowest choosen aspect was intrinsic motivation(77%). So integrative motivation is the students’ motivation that is most dominant in learning reading comprehension at the tenth grade of SMAN 1 Candung.
