ABSTRACT Asih Sari Ningrum, 2316035. The Teachers’ Perception On The Use Of Cooperative Learning Model For Improving Learners Reading Fluency. A Thesis. State Islamic Institute. This research background by teachers perception on the use of cooperative learning model in SMP N 1 Sungai Pua. The purpose of this research was to know what is the teacher perception on the use of cooperative learning model for improving learners reading fluency. This research was designed as descriptive qualitative research. The informants of this research consist of two teachers who teaches English in SMP N 1 Sungai Pua. The informant was taken by using total sample because the informants are less than one hundred. This research used interview and questionnaire as technique to collect the data. In this case, the researcher interviewed the teachers of SMP N 1 Sungai Pua. The finding reveals that there were several teachers perception of using cooperative learning model. That is divided into four aspects. The objective of cooperative learning model, the role of instructional media, the role of teacher, the role of learners. In objective cooperative learning, there are two categories. It includes increasing students’ creative thinking skill, Improving students’ responsibility in learning. In the role of instructional media, there are one aspect. It includes using authentic material for the learning source in. in the role of teachers there are four aspects. It includes teacher as controller, teacher as observer, teacher as participants, teacher as evaluator. In the role of learners. There are two aspects. It includes, learners as the group members, learners as participants. The data showed the teacher used all categories of cooperative learning. The teachers used the cooperative learning model in the English class, especially in learning reading. The cooperative learning model can makes the students learn on responsibility. The English teachers also used the authentic material such as magazine/newspaper. The English teachers as a observer in cooperative learning model and the students as a group worker.
