ABSTRACT Annisa Aditya (2316081)An Analysis of Students’ Speaking Fluency Level at Grade XI of MA KMM Kauman Padang Panjang 2019/2020. This research background was by students’ problems at Grade XI of MA KMM Kauman Padang Panjang. First, students often said hmmm and aaaa when they speak. Second, students feel-block minded in speaking because they tend afraid of making mistakes in grammar. Third, students have difficulties in expressing idea spontaneously because they have lack of vocabulary. The research question of this research are how are the level of students’ speaking fluency and what are factors of students’ disfluency in speaking.The purposes of this study were to described students’ fluency level and to identify what are students’ disfluency factors at MA KMM Kauman Padang Panjang. This research used quantitative research method with the class of grade XI students as the research population. There were 25 students taken as the research sample selected through purpossive sampling technique. The data were collected through speaking test and a set of questionnaire. In the speaking test, students were allowed to choose one of five topics provided and were asked to deliver short talks for 2 minutes. These short talks were recorded. In addition to the speaking test, there were 20 questions with five options as the answers. These questions represented five main factors of disfluency such as task with task difficulty, meaning focused, time pressure, planning and preparation, and task repetition. The collected data were mainly in the form of transcription texts mined from the recordings of the short talks as well as the answers from the questionnaire. The results of the study showed that students’ speaking fluency level at grade XI of MA KMM Kauman Padang Panjang is 55.83 Good (level 3). It shows that students who had Good 92% or 23 students and who had Intermediate 8% or 2 students. However, the result on factors of students’ disfluency in speaking were task with task difficulty(3,88), meaningfocused (3,2), time pressure (3,7), planning and preparation (3,6), and task repetition(2,87). It shows that most of students factors of students’ disfluency in speaking were task difficulty, meaning focused, time pessure and planning and preparation.
