Abstrak
ABSTRACT Dewi Zonita Putri, 2313.080 THE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CLOZE TEST TECHNIQUE TOWRDS STUDENT’S READING COMPREHENSION AT SECOND GRADE OF SMAN3 PAYAKUMBUH. A Thesis, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Bukittinggi, 2020. This research was due to discover the effectiveness of cloze test technique to increase student’s reading comprehension at second grade of SMAN3 Payakumbuh. The teacher said that she used some kinds of test for reading comprehension test such as multiple choices, fill in the blank, matching test. Among that test, cloze test is the test that the relevant to know about students reading comprehension because when the teacher try another test example multiple choice students do it dishonestly or they cheat. Students did not read the text well and they also just guess the answer by guessing technique. The researcher conducted the descriptive quantitative research design. The goal of the research is to analyze how effective was the cloze test to increase students’ reading comprehension. Population of this research is the eleven grades of students of SMA N 3 Payakumbuh on academic year 2017-2018 which consist of 328 students. The researcher choose XI.IPA 2 22 Student and 23 student XI.IPS 1 classes as the samples. Instrument that used in the research was a test. Based on finding and discussion, the final scores of the students reading comprehension showed that the percentage of final scores was 80.73. the rating scale showed the 80.73 was put between range 72-89% was effective. In conclusion, the application result of using the effect of using cloze-test in testing reading comprehension on the report text at the eleventh grade which they are two classes to 45 students which the class XI IPA2 consist of 22 students and the class XI IPS1 consist of 23 students in SMA N3 Payakumbuh was effective Key Words: Cloze Test, Report Text, Reading Comprehension
