Abstrak
ABSTRACT Lidhya Martaliana, 2313.087, Teacher’s Strategies in Managing Time in Teaching English at the Eleventh Grade of MAN 1 Pasaman in 2019/2020 Academic Year. A thesis, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Bukittinggi 2020. This research was conducted by the reason to find out the teacher’s strategies in managing time, these strategies helped the students to get more learning time efficiently. The problems of this research, what were the teacher’s strategies in managing time in teaching English at the Eleventh Grade of MAN 1 Pasaman, and how the teachers managed the time on English subject. The design of this research was descriptive qualitative research. The instrument of this research ware observation checklist and interview. The subject of this research was English teachers in MAN 1 Pasaman. The data ware gotten by interview and observation. The technique of data analysis was though resumes the data and focus on the research aspect and unnecessary aspects are reduce by researcher. The result of the research show that there were seven strategies that the teacher used. They were following school calendar, setting goals and working on achieving those goals, prioritize the goal that are more important, making daily schedule of classroom activities, making a to do list, setting time limit for task in the classroom and utilizing transition time effectively. Following school calendar, the teacher followed the school calendar for reference in teaching time guidelines. Setting goals and working on achieving those goals, the teacher sets goals and works to achieve these goals in managed the time in teaching English. Prioritize the goal that are more important, the teacher prioritize students’ understanding in the subject matter. Making daily schedule of classroom activities, the teacher has a plan all activities in the classroom. Making a to do list, the teacher has guidelines in teaching and it can management of teaching time can be done well. Setting time limit for task in the classroom, the teacher sets time limit for task in the classroom. Utilizing transition time effectively, the teacher made the best used of the utilized time and complies with the conditions has been set by the school. Keyword: Teacher strategies, time management
