Abstrak
SESMITA, 2315100, Students’ Perception on Reward and Punishment Given by English Teacher at MTs.TI.Candung. A thesis, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Bukittinggi, 2020 This study aims to find out percepcion on reward and punishment given by English teacher. This research was conducted because the reseacher found several problems namely: some students are not interest in learning English, some students are not pay attention of material given by the teacher explanation, some students are not interested when answering question from the teacher, some students are not done the tasks given by teacher, some students like to sleep or talk with others during the learning process. This study aims to find out what are the students perception on reward and punishment given by english teacher at MTs.TI.Candung. This research was conducted in class VIII of MTs.TI.Candung. This research was a descriptive quantitative research. The population was 134 students and the sample was 55 students and purposive sampling was used as the research sample. Data was collected using a questionnaire. Data is done by identifiying respondents answers, analyzing data and drawing conclussions. Based on the results of the study, that students perception on reward and punishment given by english teacher at MTs.TI.Candung for first indicator giving point 95,3% with very good perception. Second, students’ perception on giving a gift 82,2% with very good perception. Third, students’ perception on giving praise 82,5% with good perception. Fourth, students’ perception on giving award 83,1% with very good perception. Fifth, students’ perception on reward by gesture 90% with very good perception. Sixth, students’ perception on reward by word 86,72% with very good perception. Seventh, students’ perception on reward by action 85,81% with very good perception. Eighth, students’ perception on reward by thing 85,3% with very good perception. Ninth, students’ perception on punishment by gesture 47,5% good enough perception. Tenth, students’ perception on punishment by word 49,5% with good enough perception . Eleventh, students’ perception on advice 63,81% with good perception. Twelfth, students’ perception on reprimand 86,4% with very good perception. Thirteenth, students’ perception on warning 70% with good perception. The last, students’ perception on punishment by action 62,6% with good perception. Keywords: Students’ perception, reward and punishment
