Abstrak
ABSTRACT Muhammad Ridwan 2312.027. The Effect Of Using Out Of Class Strategy: Speaking Homework Towards Students’ Speaking Ability At The 10th Grade Of Smkn 1 Matur. A Thesis, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Bukittinggi, 2019. This research was due to discover the effect of using Out of Class Strategy : Speaking Homework towards students speaking ability. It has been done at SMK N 1 Matur because most of the students of Senior High School still encounter problems in mastering English especially speaking. Most of the students are difficult to understand the speaking because they feel a kind of mental block while speaking, the vocabulary that they want to use while speaking is not enough, and they are bored and sleepy in the classroom because of the strategy that the teacher uses is always the same. This research used experimental research. The researcher used a quasi- experimental design by using the pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this research was at tenth grade of in SMK N 1 Matur. The sample was X TKJ which was treated as experimental class and taught by using Out of Class Strategy : Speaking Homework and X JB was treated as control class and taught by using conventional strategy. To determine the sample, the researcher used purposive sampling technique. The data was got through pretest and posttest to experimental and control classes. To analyze the data, the researcher used the normality by using Lilliefors test and the homogeneity test by using F test and to test the hypothesis, the researcher used t-test formula and consulted the result into t-table with level of the significance = 0.05 for the first and second hypothesis From the result and accounting the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental class, it was found that the t-obtained was higher than the t-table So that, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted which means that there was significant effect of using Out of Class Strategy : Speaking Homework on students‘ speaking ability. Then, the calculation of post-test both classes, the t measurement was bigger than t table. So that, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted which means that there is significant difference between using out of class strategy speaking homework and using conventional technique? For the third hypothsis, mean score of the experimental class is bigger than control class, it means (Ha) was accepted which means that there is significant difference between using Out of Class Strategy : Speaking Homework and using conventional technique. So that, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted which means that the students who are taught by using Out of Class Strategy : Speaking Homework is better than the students who are taught by using conventional technique. So, it can be concluded that the entire hypothesis is accepted. It is proved that the use of Out of Class Strategy : Speaking Homework on learning speaking can help the students master the speaking well.
