ABSTRACT Ria Resty Fauzi, 2313.135, Students’ perceptions Toward Cooperative Learning Method in learning Speaking at the Second Grade of Madrasah Aliyah Parabek Bukitinggi in Enflish Education Deparmant State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Bukitinggi 20017/2018 This research was motivated by some problem. There were some problems that were found by the researcher at Parabek; some students were affraid of making mistake while expressing their ideas in speaking and some students had low motivation in learning. Althought, the English teacher used cooperative learning method in learning process at the second grade of Madrasah Aliyah Parabek Parabek Bukitinggi.Therefore, the researcher did the research at Madrasah Aliyah ParabekBukitinggi to know what are students’ perceptions' toward cooperative learning method in learning speaking. The design of this research was a descriptive quantitative. The total of population was 137 students and sample was 35 students at second grade of Madrasah Aliyah Parabek Bukitinggi. The researcher used a questionnaire about an analisis of cooperative learning in collecting data. Furthermore, the technique of data analysis was processed by table percentage formula. The result on the questionnaire showed that students’ perceptions toward cooperative learning method well. In accordance with the result on the questionnaire, the average of percentage the questionnaire is 72% or good perception. It can be seen by the table of interpertation, which means that students’ perception toward cooperative learning method in learning speaking is good perception.
