The Effect of Repeated Reading Strategy toward Students' Reading Comprehension at 8th Grade at Pondok Pesantren MTI Koto Tinggi Pandai Sikek

Muhammad Nasir, 2314048. THE EFFECT OF USING REPEATED READING STRATEGY TOWARD STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION AT 8TH GRADE IN PONDOK PESANTREN MTI KOTO TINGGI PANDAI SIKEK. A thesis, State Islamic Institute Bukittinggi, 2021 This research was due to some problems that were found in Pondok Pesantren MTI Koto Tinggi Pandai Sikek. First the students showed a little motivation in reading, students tend to be sleepy and bored while the teacher brought a reading passage. The second, the teacher said that students’ vocabulary mastery is below average, they find it difficult to spell some words while reading which make them look funny in front of their friends The researcher used quantitative research design. the purposes of the research were to find out whether there is a significant effect of using repeated reading toward students reading comprehension, to find out whether there is a significant difference of students who use repeated reading and students who are not using it, and to find out whether students’ reading comprehension that is taught by using repeated reading is better than students who are not using it. The sample of this research was VII 1 and VII 2 with the total 28 students. In order to collect the data the researcher used reading test multiple choice which was consisted of 30 items. Based on the finding of the research, it was found that using repeated reading strategy has significant effect toward the students’ reading comprehension. This statements was also supported by the t-test, where the t-obtained was bigger than the t-table ((6,872>2,064). Second, The mean score of the experiment after taking repeated reading strategy as the treatment was bigger than the mean score of the experiment class before taking it (52 to 76)

Sebagai makhluk sosial, manusia senantiasa ingin berhubungan dengan manusia lainnya. Ia ingin mengetahui lingkungan sekitarnya. Bahkan ingin mengetahui apa yang terjadi dalam dirinya. Rasa ingin tahu ini memaksa manusia perlu berkomunikasi. Dalam hidup bermasyarakat, orang yang tidak pernah berkomunikasi dengan orang lain akan terisolasi. Pengaruh keterisolasian ini akan menimbulkan depresi mental yang pada akhirnya membawa orang pada kehilangan keseimbangan jiwa. Menurut Everest Kleinjan dari East West Center Hawai (dalam Cangara, 2003: 1), komunikasi merupakan bagian kekal dalam kehidupan manusia seperti halnya bernapas. Sepanjang manusia ingin hidup maka ia perlu berkomunikasi. Beberapa pakar juga menilai bahwa komunikasi adalah kebutuhan yang fundamental bagi seseorang dalam bermasyarakat. Profesor Wilbur Schramm menyebut komunikasi dan masyarakat adalah dua kata kembar yang tak dapat dipisahkan.
