The Effect of Using Using Silent Way Towards Students’ Vocabulary Mastery at VII Grade of MTsS PPM Diniyyah Pasia
ABSTRACT Hamid Kasman, 2312.031. The Effect of Using Using Silent Way Towards Students’ Vocabulary Mastery at VII Grade of MTsS PPM Diniyyah Pasia in Academic Year 2018/2019. A Thesis, State Islamic Institute Bukittinggi, 2019. This research has been done at MTsS Diniyyah Pasia. This reearch was due to discover the effect of using silent way towards students’ vocabulary mastery at the 7th grade in MTsS Diniyyah Pasia because the 7th grade students have limited amount of vocabulary and the teacher still uses the conventional method where the students focused in listening to the explanation of the teacher. This research used experimental research. The researcher used a quasi- experimental design employing pretest and posttest control design. The population of this research was at sevent grade of MTsS Diniyyah Pasia. The sample was VII.2 which was treated as experimental class and taught by using silent way and VII.4 was treated as control class and taught by using conventional technique. To determine the sample, the researcher used purposive sampling technique. The data was got through pretest and posttest to experimental and control classes. To analyze the data, the researcher used the normality and homogeneity by using SPSS 22 to test the hypothesis, the researcher used t-test formula and consulted the result into t-table for the first, second and third hypothesis. The findings in this research show that the t-obtained (-7.951) was lower than the t-table (-1.667). So that, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted which means that there was significant effect of using The Effect of Using silent way towards students‘ vocabulary ability. Then, the calculation of post-test both classes: experimental and control classes was obtained the (-4.587) was lower than t table (1.667). So that, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted which means that there is significant difference between using silent way and using conventional technique. So, it can be concluded that the entire hypothesis is accepted. It is proved that the use of silent way on learning vocabulary can help the students master the vocabulary well.
