ABSTRACT   Femi Oktarina, 2311.035. The Effectiveness of Using Grammar Consciousness Raising Task (GCRT) in Teaching Grammar at the Third Semester of IAIN Bukittinggi. A Thesis, State Islamic Institute of Bukittinggi, 2016. This research was due to several problems found in Grammar class. The researcher found that most of the students were still lack of ability in their grammatical competence, the students’ mark was somewhat various which was 65% of them considered to have poor achievement. The purpose of this research was to identify the effectiveness of using grammar consciousness raising task (GCRT) in teaching grammar at the third semester students of IAIN Bukittinggi in academic year 2015/2016. This research was a descriptive quantitative research. The population of this research was the third semester students of English Education Department of Bukittinggi. Since it was morethan hundred persons, the researcher took 25% of population that was 34 students. The technique of data collection in this research was documentation by collecting the students’ grammar score from daily test having taught using GCRT. To analyze the data collected, the researcher used table of frequency and percentage table of students’ ability by calculating the mean, median, mode.The researcher used rating scale to arrange the level of effectiveness. The test result showed that the mean score of the students ability in grammar was 78,9. The percentage of the students is between 72 – 89 % (effective). It means the data prove that the grammar consciousness raising task (GCRT) is effective in teaching grammar at the third semester of IAIN Bukittinggi.     Key Word: Grammar Consciousness Raising Task (GCRT)                               ABSTRAK     Femi Oktarina, 2311.035. Keefektifan Penggunaan Grammar Consciousness Raising Task (GCRT) dalam Pengajaran Grammar pada Semester Tiga PBI di IAIN Bukittinggi, Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Bukittinggi, 2016.   Penelitian ini dilatabelakangi oleh masalah yang ditemukan dalam pengajaran  grammar. Peneliti menemukan bahwa sebagian besar siswa masih kurang kemampuan dalam kompetensi grammar, ditandai 65% dari mereka memperoleh nilai yang berada pada prediket buruk. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis keefektifan grammar consciousness raising task (GCRT) dalam pengajaran grammar pada semester tiga di IAIN Bukittinggi tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian yaitu mahasiswa semester tiga. Karena populasi lebih dari 100 maka peneliti mengambil 25% dari sampel yakni sebanyak 34 siswa. Sementara itu teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah dokumentasi dengan cara mengumpulkan nilai harian grammar  setelah diajar dengan GCRT. Pada analisis data peneliti menggunakan table distribusi frekuensi, diagram presentase, dan table presentase, sedangkan untuk table frekuensi peneliti menggunakan rumus  data interval, mean, median, modus. Peneliti menggunakan tabel skala bertingkat untuk melihat level kemampuan grammar mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa total rata-rata nilai siswa yang didapatkan dari table frekuensi adalah78,9. Persentase dari nilai rata-rata    siswa tersebut berada diantara rentang 72 – 89 %, artinya data membuktikan bahwa grammar consciousness raising task (GCRT) efektif dalam pengajaran grammar pada semester tiga di IAIN Bukittinggi.     Kata Kunci: Grammar Consciousness Raising Task (GCRT)
